www.skillbox.co.uk is a site operated by Peter Campion trading as SKILLBOX ("We"). Our main trading address is 28 Cedar Court Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL53 7RB.

We amend these terms from time to time. Every time you wish to use our site, please check these terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time.
We may make changes to our site
We may update and change our site from time to time to reflect changes to our products, our users' needs and our business priorities.
We may suspend or withdraw our site
Our site is made available free of charge.
We do not guarantee that our site, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. We may suspend or withdraw or restrict the availability of all or any part of our site for business and operational reasons. We will try to give you reasonable notice of any suspension or withdrawal.
Our site is for users in the UK
Our site is directed to people residing in the United Kingdom. We do not represent that content available on or through our site is appropriate for use or available in other locations.
You must keep your account details safe
If you choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential. You must not disclose it to any third party.
If you know or suspect that anyone other than you know your user identification code or password, you must promptly notify us at Hello@skillbox.co.uk
You must report your taxes
It is your responsibility to make all required legal and tax filings. If relevant, file all necessary legal documentation relating to your self-employment when required by a government body, and pay all applicable taxes, PAYE or other income tax and national insurance.
How you may use material on our site
We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our site, and in the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
You may print off one copy and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our site for your personal use and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to content posted on our site.
You must not modify the paper or digital copies of any materials you have printed off or downloaded in any way, and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.
Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the authors of content on our site must always be acknowledged.
You must not use any part of the content on our site for commercial purposes without obtaining a licence to do so from us or our licensors.
Acceptable Use Restrictions
You may use our site only for lawful purposes. You must be human. Accounts registered by ‘bots’ or other automated methods are not permitted.
You must provide your full legal name, a valid email address, and any other required information to complete the sign-up process.
One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one free account.
Skillbox may communicate with you via email or pushed notifications regarding your account, system updates, or other issues related to your account.
You are responsible for all content sent and activity that occurs under your account.
Your login details may be used up to a maximum of six concurrent sessions.
Skillbox may refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.
2 - Services
Skillbox operates a platform linking sellers (freelancers) with buyers.
Services are offered through Skillbox in one of three ways;
- Online – this enables buyers and sellers to communicate and complete transactions online.
- In Person – buyers and sellers are able to meet in person completing tasks and learning new skills whilst, knowing there is a safe and secure method of payment through Skillbox.
- Courses – this service allows buyers to select courses that sellers have pre-populated on their portfolios allowing buyers ease of access to educational and informative material.
On Skillbox there is a fixed, custom and per hour price in place in order to give the platform ultimate flexibility and freedom.
Services that are delivered on Skillbox are collectively referred to as ‘jobs’. Services are provided by sellers directly to buyers, who determine the proposals, prices and any additional requirements.
Once a buyer has selected a seller to work with and pays, the funds will be held in an escrow account (MangoPay). The workstream will then commence and sellers must update the buyers in terms of progress and respond within 24 hours to all messages from the buyer.
Sellers must deliver work within the delivery times, these are usually defined on the job description. Sellers run the risk of being penalised through ratings for late delivery.
Sellers are to fulfil their jobs and buyers agree to pay for work delivered. Any cancellations or refunds caused by users, without just reason will be penalised.
Sellers must provide, and be given the chance by the buyer to provide, further duplications on the work delivered if the buyer is not initially satisfied.
Completed jobs will raise a request to receive payment held in the escrow account. Buyers must pay within the 10-day payment terms.
Once payment is completed, buyers are granted all rights for the delivered work.
2.1 – Quality
On Skillbox we strive for quality and our sellers must too, deliver to a high standard in an appropriate timescale meeting their buyer’s needs.
Specifically, sellers deliverables are:
- Meet the buyers requirements
- Meet the requirements of the job description
- Standard consistent with the level of expertise as indicated
2.2 – Conditions
The buyer and seller agree on the job description and determine the terms and conditions. The buyer and seller create a ‘service contract’ between themselves and Skillbox are not party to that contract.
3. User Accounts
Register at Skillbox to obtain access to an account, you must provide accurate information and keep your account information up to date.
You may only register one account and must be a personal account, however, users may trade as a sole trader, company or any other legal entity.
Information that users provide must all be in accordance with the Skillbox terms and conditions.
Skillbox reserves the right to restrict you access, temporarily or indefinitely block your account if:
- You breach the terms and conditions
- We are unable to verify any information you provide us
- We believe that your actions may cause loss or liability to users or to Skillbox
Users are solely responsible for their accounts and the activity that occurs on them. Unless actions are beyond their control (hacking). Users may not use another person’s account.
Skillbox under UK AML regulations is unable to support users from North Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Sudan, South Sudan and Region of Crimea.
4 – Payment & Access
Use of a valid credit card is required for paying accounts.
Accounts that are free are not required to provide a credit card number.
If you decide to upgrade or downgrade your premium plan, your new billing rate will be charged immediately.
Skillbox services are billed in advance and all monthly payments are non-refundable.
There will be no refunds or credits for partial months of service, upgrade or downgrade refunds, or refunds for months unused with an open account. This policy has been made to treat everyone equally, no exceptions will be made.
Our company policy is to not extend discounts for a duration longer than 12 months.
All fees are inclusive of all taxes, levies, or duties imposed by taxing authorities. You agree to pay for any such taxes that might be applicable to your use of Skillbox and payments made by you herein.
5 – Modifications to the Service & Fees
Skillbox reserves the right to modify, suspend, or withdraw the service at any time for any reason with or without notice.
Skillbox reserves the right to change our monthly or annual fees upon a 30-day notice period. We will notify users of any such change within this time frame via email to our subscribers or on our terms and conditions.
Skillbox reserves the right to update and change the terms of service from time to time without notice. New features or enhancements to the service, including new tools and resources, shall be subject to the Terms of Service.
6 – Skillbox Fees
6.1 - Skillbox Plans
Skillbox maintains the fact that the basic user account is free to use:
Basic account is free features include 5 Job posts per account online/in person, access to courses and freedom to roam Skillbox, 10 photos per job posting, unlimited video upload and free for life, use of the chat system.
There are two optional upgrade services where a buyer will have access to these;
Standard account is £12.99 p/m features include everything in basic plus, 10 jobs posts, display your primary contact details, and, bold ads to get more exposure.
Premium account is £25.99 p/m features include everything in standard plus, 30 job posts, featured ads (displayed on the home page), full access to the Skillbox system, mark your job as urgent (one per post), boost your job post (one per post).
Skillbox does not guarantee any level of success from upgrading a job post, in terms of any metric associated with a job – including but not limited to: views received, proposals received, ratings received and awarding the job to a freelancer.
6.2 - Optional Extras
There are two optional extras, where a buyer may choose to tag a job listing as ‘urgent’ this is associated to a fee of £7 per job post and where a buyer may ‘boost’ a job listing for maximum exposure sending out notifications to all relevant freelancers this is associated with a fee of £5 per job listing. Both extras are free when subscribed to the premium plan (optional extras are limited to one per job listing).
6.3 – Seller Fees
Skillbox reserves the right to charge sellers a service fee for the use of the platform which can be found in the service fee structure below.
These fees are based on earnings per transaction and will be deducted in this time frame. The below fees apply when using a credit/debit card.
Basic account (free) : £0 - £5,000+
£0.7 + 15%
Standard account (paid) : £0 - £5,000+
£0.7 + 12.5%
All users are provided with an invoice once a transaction has been settled via the Skillbox payment service.
6.4 Buyers Fees
Buyers fees chart when using a credit/debit card:
Basic account (free) : £0 - £5,000+
£0.7 + 5%
Standard account (paid) : £0 - £5,000+
£0.7 + 5%
When a buyer withdraws funds from there Skillbox account, Skillbox passes on any fees incurred to process the payment via third parties as a withdrawal fee as follows:
UK bank transfer
Skillbox reserves the right to change our service fees from time to time. We will notify users of any such change via email to our subscribers or on our terms and conditions. The changes will apply to any transactions which take place after the update.
Buyers are going against the Skillbox terms of service if payment is offered to sellers directly. The Skillbox payment system is provided as it has been intended for a secure and safe way to make payments between buyers and sellers.
7 - Bank chargeback and fees
If your bank transfer is reversed due to inputting the incorrect banking information e.g. wrong bank account type or foreign currency bank account settings limitations, Skillbox will charge a reversal fee of £3.
If there is a delay in payment from your chosen bank and an investigation is necessary Skillbox will charge £25 for a formal investigation to initiate and determine the transaction issue.
A chargeback is a disputed transaction reported by a buyer with their card issuer. Once a dispute is filed the bank will contact Skillbox for an investigation to take place. The bank charges a fee under these circumstances and Skillbox passes these on to freelances whose buyer filed a chargeback with their bank for a particular job or payment. The fee per chargeback is £20. It will be at the discretion of Skillbox to refund the £20 back to the freelancer on a case by case basis.
If a seller raises a dispute, they are required to pay a non-refundable fee equal to 10% of the invoice or refund amount. This is subject to a minimum charge of £5 per dispute.
7.1 - Fee for inactive user accounts
Skillbox is not a bank and only holds funds for the purpose of settling the provision of services. It is recommended that users do not hold dormant balances on the platform. There is a maximum of 30 days for a user to hold a dormant balance. A monthly admin fee will be charged of £7.50 if a dormant balance has exceeded 60 days until the transaction is cleared.
7.2 - Currency Conversion
Skillbox reserves the right to charge a currency conversion fee of 2.5%, which involves a transaction requiring a currency conversion and completed at the foreign exchange rate, due to the nature of currency fluctuations.
8 – Feedback & Ratings
Once the job is completed both parties will be asked to provide feedback, ranging from 1 – 5 (1 being the least and 5 being the highest). This rating influences a ranking system built within Skillbox. Reviews that are submitted are non-changeable and will show on the profile of both a buyer and seller.
Feedback can also be provided while requesting a refund.
Honesty is key in leaving feedback and ratings and must not be falsified. Any threating behaviour towards a user with a negative rating or incentivising a user to obtain a better rating must be reported immediately to Skillbox.
Under certain circumstances, reviews that are reported may be removed if deemed defamatory, abusive or offensive subject to the discretion of Skillbox.
9 – User Cancellations & Refunds
9.1 – Job Cancellation
After the commencement of a job, the buyer or seller may request a cancellation:
- The workstream messaging service must be used to inform either the buyer or the seller of the intention to cancel the job. Use the action button ‘request refund’ to proceed with this option.
- If there has not been reasonable notice given to cancel the job and the buyer has not informed the seller to ‘request a refund’ the buyer must pay for the completed job. No dispute can be raised under these circumstances.
Once the seller is notified of a cancellation they should:
- Stop working on the job immediately
- The parties should agree in the workstream what payment is necessary for any work that has already been completed.
9.2 – Job Refund Policy
Refunds are entitled to a buyer under the following circumstances:
- Lack of or no response from the seller specifically has not responded within 24hrs of the commencement of the job
- Work has not been delivered, work has not been submitted within the set timescale, work is not to agreed price, delivery is of a poor quality, revisions have not been offered, seller lost a dispute.
Skillbox recommends that disputes are resolved between buyers and sellers before contacting the resolution centre.
Buyers and sellers may mutually agree to a refund.
Refunds are only applicable to funds held in the escrow account (MangoPay).
Refund administration charges do apply currently 3.5%.
Buyers must not file a dispute with their bank. Attempts to seek a refund in this way will lead to the buyers account being suspended.
Both parties must respond to the ‘request a refund’. If this is not the case and either a buyer or seller does not action this request, Skillbox will automatically refund the buyer within three (3) working days. Refunded funds will take 3 working days to be processed.
10 - Refund & Cancellation Penalties
Users are discouraged from causing cancellations and refunds. Refunds & cancellations will adversely affect the user’s ratings where:
- A seller is at fault (lack of response, poor quality work or they have cancelled the job)
- A buyer has been the cause of a refund (cancelling due to a change in their business requirements)
- Multiple refunds by a user will cause a temporary or permanent restriction on their account.
Once Skillbox has reviewed a refund and concludes the buyer is due remuneration this will be processed as soon as reasonably possible. If Skillbox believes that the parties have not complied with the terms and conditions, Skillbox shall not be obliged to make the refund.
Skillbox provides a resolution centre in order to resolve any disputes that may occur between the buyer and seller. We encourage that buyers and sellers try to resolve any disagreements between themselves.
A dispute can be raised if:
- A refund request is declined
- A buyer rejects an invoice
To raise a dispute the seller will be charged a non-refundable fee see section 7.
You must be a member of Skillbox for any dispute to be passed through the resolution centre.
If there has been a discrepancy with an invoice linked to an escrow balance.
If the dispute is greater than £100, Skillbox may contact the users involved in order to mediate and try and bring the dispute to resolution.
Skillbox will aim to resolve any such disputes within a 10-day period. If a mutual resolution has been agreed between users update the resolution centre to close the case.
Skillbox will make an informative decision when the resolution centre has been contacted in line with a dispute. We will act in good faith and users shall have no cause of action against Skillbox in respect of the decision made. Users agree and accept that they have no right to hold Skillbox accountable for a buyer or sellers alleged actions or failures.
12 – Cancellation & Termination
You are left with the responsibility of properly cancelling your account. An email shall result as a cancellation. Cancelling your account will result in the deactivation or deletion of your account with denied access to your account, and the forfeiture and relinquishment of all content in your account. Information from a deactivated account cannot be recovered. Please be informed that you can cancel at any time, however, you will be liable for all charges accrued up to that time.
13 – Safety and Security
You may not use our site:
- In any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation.
- In any way that is unlawful or fraudulent, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect.
- For the purpose of harming or attempting to harm minors in any way.
- To transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam).
- To knowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.
- To transmit any material that:
- is defamatory, obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory to any person or otherwise
objectionable in relation to your use of our site;
- promotes sexually explicit material;
- promotes violence;
- promotes discrimination based on race, sex religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;
- infringes any intellectual property rights of any other person;
- is likely to deceive any person;
- breaches any legal duty owed to a third party (such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence);
- promotes any illegal activity;
- is threatening, abusive or invades another's privacy or causes annoyance, inconvenience
or needless anxiety;
- is likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person;
- Impersonates any person, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person;
- Gives the impression that the material emanates from Skillbox if this is not the case; or
- advocates promotes, incites any party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse.
We will contact you via email to warn you if your account is to be suspended or terminated. Skillbox shall not be liable to you or any third party for suspension or discontinuation of the service.

Uploading content to our site
