A Guide to Outsourcing : Part 2 [Outsourcing Guide]

You want your business to flourish and expand, why not try outsourcing? The right partner can push this process at a faster pace while enhancing productivity. Like any good parent company, you should always make sure to set clear and well-defined goals and time frames that you want the outsourced work completed.

As mentioned before, payroll is a service that is prime for outsourcing. The company that handles this should be able to deliver said payment to all employees on time, every time while your customer service office and crew must be able to follow your rules and guidelines for any customer interaction.

Looking to Outsource?

1. Outsourcing: Stay Local

Keep in mind that outsourcing does not have to stay local. If you’re looking to outsource and expand, you might consider using an outsourcing agency. These agencies can look at smaller partners and judging by the standards you set and information you give match up your domestic company with potential international partners. Some of the larger agencies include Skillbox and Fiverr, but a quick online search can help you locate others.

2. Outsourcing: Locate and Identify

Construct a list of potentials that you would be willing to outsource to. Use business connections, local commerce and internet searches to accomplish this. Trim the list of possibilities down, allowing your company to benefit from the selection. Always make sure that you find the ratings you are looking for with your searches to find out if these partners meet your standards.

3. Outsourcing: Meet and Greet

Contact your partners and get to know them professionally. Upon contacting them, you need to check for direct responses and keep to the point. These responses will remain on your list of candidates, and the opposites will not. Any company that responds with anything non-committal should be struck from said list. If the work you need doing needs a lot of attention, organise a series of interviews. If you are outsourcing overseas, ensure that the partner conforms to its national standards for labour.

4. Outsourcing: Request a Proposal

Sending this out (an RFP) will be your company essentially asking for a price estimate of the work and description of these partners services, and a portfolio of their work. This will allow you to compare their body of work to the process you need them to focus on. By this point, you should have narrowed your list down to a slim number of partners.

5. Outsourcing: Aim High

You will need to find a partner who can provide the best quality of work for the best value. The only time you should go with the lowest bidder is based on the quality of their work. If another potential partner has a better quality of work along with a higher price, it pays to go with the latter.

In the third part of this article, we will explain how to verify and communicate with your chosen partners effectively.
